Hoses must pass tests for static and dynamic pressure, burst pressure and temperature extremes Flexibility tested to minus 40 degrees F. Heat aging tests hose resistance to high temperatures from 275 degrees F to 300 degrees F. Hose swell tests measure hose expansion at high pressure and temperatures up to 285 degrees F. Immersion tests help ensure chemical breakdown resistance to coolant exposure. Burst pressure tested up to ten times the maximum peak operating pressure. Most coolant hoses are molded to fit the application for easy installation. The premium quality EPDM rubber used in most hoses is designed to help resist heat, oil, grease, antifreeze and all approved coolant additives. EPDM construction often includes reinforcements, depending on application and use, including Kevlar, Nomex, Technora, and Rayon.
